STYLE COUNSEL - Nom de guerre’s
HOLLY HARNSONGKRAM tells guys what to wear…
What’s the deal with all the different jean washes these days?
Holly Harnsongkram: I haven’t been really big on washes for
four or five years. Simple is always the best way to go.
I have narrow ties and fat ties- should I hold on to both of them?
Or do you think that some fashions just don’t come back?
HH: I would say it’s probably better to let go of some things,
‘cause you never know how (trends) will actually manifest
themselves. I mean, your fat tie might look great, but it might
not (work) in the same fabric.
Is there any fashion advice that you have for short guys?
HH: If (you) wear something that fits, and it’s not too big or too
small. It will look just right proportionally.
No other specific tips, like ‘Don’t wear platform shoes’ or ‘Don’t
cuff your pants’?
HH: I definitely think that compensating for (shortness) is
usually the one mistake that people do make.
What’s your one-line take on the following:
Fedoras?
HH: I wore one last night. Just for fun.
Wife-beaters?
HH: I guess it depends on (a guy’s) personality and how he’s
wearing it. I think wife-beaters look better on girls. – James
