WARFAIR
Nom de Guerre has launched its own collaborative label.
The underground store, whose interior is styled like a bunker,
has become a hub for New Yorkers seeking casual clothes
with an edge since it opened in 2003. Now, founders Holly
Harnsongkram, Isa Saalabi, Wil Whitney, and Devon Ojas have
gathered their talents together again to create a fresh collection
for spring.
Harnsongkram, who used to work for W Magazine, and Saalabi,
who came from Marc Jacobs, brought to the project their
fashion expertise; Whitney injected his experience in skate retail
and Ojas in typography and street art.
The laidback, unisex collection features printed T-shirts and
short-sleeved, button-front shirts cut from Madras plaids.
But the greater part of the collection centers on Nom de
Guerre’s collaborations with other brands, including Adidas,
Nike, and Tricker’s of London, an old English company that
makes handmade boots and other shoes that were “a 60’s
and 70’s uniform for suede heads, mods, and teddy boys,”
says Harnsongkram. Another collaborator is Buzz Rickson, a
Japanese company specializing in replicas of U.S. military gear.
